I think that the environment does take a part in the natural selection in the Lilly pond. One factor is the weather. If the weather were very hot and humid (like when I went), their children would probably be able to keep themselves cool. If the weather were cold, their children would be better suited for the cold temperature (not that it gets that cold here). Another might be the temperature of the water rather than the air temperature. If the water were warm/hot the fish in the pond wouldn't have as hard as a time living in the water. Their children would be skinny and swift. If the water temperature were cold/freezing the fish in the pond would be bigger and bulkier so that they could live in the conditions. In the pond it’s all still water in the main part of the pond. The children of the fish in this area would be moderate swimmers. In another part of the pond there is some running water. The children of the fish in this area would be strong swimmers (like how salmon are stronger so they can swim back).
